Aberdeen partners Weave Living to buy six Tokyo residential properties

Aberdeen Investments is purchasing six houses in Tokyo in collaboration with Hong Kong-based rental lodging firm Weave Living.

The properties being purchased were secured off-market with Weave Living. Making up an overall of 275 housing units, all six real estates were finished between 2023 and 2026. They lie throughout different wards in main Tokyo, throughout a 10-minute walk of the nearest train terminal.

The properties are being obtained on behalf of a European investor that is a continual associate of Aberdeen in the area, the worldwide asset supervisor stated in an Aug 17 release. The deal value was not divulged.

The properties will accommodate expanding interest for flexible living solutions in Japan, stated Harumi Kadono, Aberdeen’s manager of Japan property. “Partnering with Weave Living offers us an experienced supervisor on the ground in Tokyo and enables us to satisfy that need with a genuinely differentiated rental product,” he included.

“As part of the accelerated growth of our incorporated living sector-focused funds management business in Japan and across Asia Pacific, we are pleased to publicize this venture with Aberdeen Investments,” said Sachin Doshi, founder and chief executive officer of Weave Living.

Five of the assets will be operated as furnished flexible rental flats following Weave Place– a label handled by Weave Living. The 6th asset will continue to be operated as a conventional built-to-rent residential property.

The acquisition will certainly build up Aberdeen’s Japan living account, that ranked at 57 real estates with a complete appraisal of roughly JPY150 billion ($1.2 billion) since June.

Meanwhile, Weave Living’s Japan account has grown to around JPY110 billion ever since it got in the market in 2023.
