Mount Pleasant estate to have 6,000 HDB flats, up from 5,000 previously announced

The first BTO project in the Mount Pleasant estate will be launched as section of the October 2025 BTO exercise. Named Mount Pleasant Crest, it will offer about 1,350 units of two-room flexi to four-room flats. There are going to even be 270 units of public rental apartments.

Presented by the new Mount Pleasant MRT Terminal on the Thomson-East Coast Line, Mount Pleasant are going to be a car-lite estate and include Transit Priority Corridors with dedicated bus lanes, broader foot ways and biking routes. New roadways, including a major highway called “Old Police Academy Road”, will also be created to enhance availability. There will also be a sheltered pedestrian road that links the various precincts in Mount Pleasant, HDB shares.

Eugene Lim, key director at ERA Singapore, indicates that the white flat style at Mount Pleasant Crest may appeal to more youthful Singaporeans and homeowners planning to do extensive renovations. “A white level typology will certainly give them the alternative to tailor-make their format to cater to their real estate needs, allowing for adaptability over the much longer term,” he states.

This will be the second BTO project to present the white flat layout, after the Crawford Heights BTO project, which launched last October. According to HDB, referring to four in 10 flat buyers selected the design at that project.

The Mount Pleasant estate sits on the spot of the Old Police Academy (OPA), close to the Thomson Flyover off the Pan Island Expressway. The OPA was used as the training institute for the Singapore Police Force (SPF) until 2005.

Lee Sze Teck, higher director of data analytics at Hiuttons Asia, thinks the Mount Pleasant Crest project that will be launched for sale in October will draw solid attention, as a result of its area near Mount Pleasant MRT Station and schools like CHIJ Primary Toa Payoh and Singapore Chinese Girls’ School.

Six buildings, which HDB says were “identified as the most substantial representations of cops heritage”, have actually been saved and will definitely be incorporated into the brand-new estate. 4 blocks will be repurposed for different purposes including a neighbourhood cops post and SPF Heritage Gallery. One block is going to continue to function as the Senior Policeman’ Mess, whilst another will be incorporated into future property developments. Furthermore, the previous OPA parade square will be maintained as public space for community use.

According to HDB, the raised supply complies with “further detailed planning researches” and are going to help to meet good housing interest.

Four Build-to-Order (BTO) projects are planned for the upcoming Mount Pleasant estate, which are going to yield approximately 6,000 new condos upon finish. This is 1,000 greater than the 5,000 units previously announced for the 33ha site, HDB claims in a Sept 2 press release.

Mount Pleasant’s proximity to Toa Payoh will also factor right into need and pricing. “The project might be a Prime BTO as resale flat prices in Toa Payoh are rather high and the older estate has among the greatest numbers of million-dollar resale condos,” Lee adds. Prime lodgings are subject to tighter rules, like a 10-year minimum occupation period and an aid clawback.

HDB states the “white flat” layout will be offered at Mount Pleasant Crest. Flat investors can select the open-concept layout, that provides a contiguous living and bedroom area without separation wall structures, when they are welcomed to reserve a flat.
